This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic culture in shaping the religious character of students at SMP Nurul Qodiri Menggala Tulang Bawang. The background of this research is based on the importance of developing students' religious character amidst the declining moral quality of students, as well as the gap between the formal application of religious values and their actual practice in daily school life. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects include the principal, Islamic Education teachers, and students. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis uses an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The expected results indicate that the implementation of Islamic culture is carried out through various habituation activities, such as congregational prayers, Qur'an recitation, joint prayers, and the application of Islamic manners in daily interactions. However, its effectiveness in shaping students' religious character is still influenced by factors such as teachers’ role modeling, consistency in program implementation, and students’ awareness in internalizing Islamic values. Therefore, Islamic culture in schools needs to be implemented holistically and sustainably to optimally shape students' religious character.

Religious character is widely recognized as an essential component in shaping students’ moral attitudes and behavioral regulation. In Islamic educational institutions such as Madrasah Aliyah, the internalization of religious values is expected to support the development of students’ self-control. Methods: This research applied a quantitative approach with a correlational design to explore the relationship between religious character and self-control. The population included students from grade X and XI at Madrasah Aliyah Wali Songo Sukajadi, Lampung Tengah. Based on the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error, 155 students were selected as participants using a simple random sampling technique. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires based on a Likert scale measuring both variables. Prior to the main analysis, the instruments were tested for validity using Pearson correlation and for reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS, including tests of normality, linearity, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. Results: The findings indicated that the data met the assumptions of normal distribution and linear relationship. Correlation analysis revealed a positive and statistically significant association between religious character and students’ self-control (r = 0.186, p = 0.008). The regression test also confirmed that religious character significantly predicted students’ self-control (F = 6.118, p = 0.014). Conclusion: These results suggest that students with stronger religious character tend to demonstrate better self-control. Strengthening religious values within educational practices may therefore contribute to improving students’ behavioral regulation and emotional management.

This study examines the implementation of Islamic values through dzikir fida’ in fostering the religious character of the congregation at Mushola Darussalamah, Dusun V, Reno Basuki Village, Rumbia District, Central Lampung Regency. Dzikir fida’, as a collective spiritual practice, is identified as an effective medium for strengthening faith, moral conduct, and daily behavior grounded in Islamic values, including i‘tiqādiyyah (creedal), khuluqiyyah (moral), and ‘amaliyyah (practical) dimensions. The research employs a qualitative field approach using purposive sampling. Data were collected through structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving dzikir leaders, congregation members, and community figures, with data validity ensured through source triangulation. The findings reveal that dzikir fida’, conducted congregationally every Wednesday night until Thursday with a structured sequence of supplications and the recitation of “lā ilāha illā Allāh” 70,000 times, significantly contributes to the development of religious character. Its impact is reflected in enhanced inner peace, strengthened social solidarity, and increased piety. The influence of the practice is evident across social aspects (reinforcing ukhuwah islāmiyyah), psychological aspects (reducing stress and fostering gratitude), and religious aspects (strengthening faith and discipline in worship). Nevertheless, challenges remain, particularly the limited participation of younger generations, which calls for more intensive outreach and promotion. This study contributes to the discourse on character education rooted in spiritual and cultural traditions and offers recommendations for expanding dzikir fida’ as a moral and spiritual intervention within society.

This study aims to analyze the process of developing religius character among students through GASMI martial arts training at Ar Rohman Mosque, Metro Utara District, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing its implementation. The research was motivated by preliminary findings indicating that several students demonstrated low levels of religious understanding, ethical behavior, and discipline prior to joining GASMI training. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive field research design, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving fifteen students selected using purposive sampling based on their limited religious background before participating in training activities. The findings reveal that the development of religious character is fostered through the integration of religious practices into the training process, including habitual prayers before training, participation in congregational prayer, weekly recitations, fasting prior to level advancement examinations, and the implementation of educational sanctions such as calling the or reciting for students who violate training regulations. Thematic analysis highlights the strengthening of several dimensions of religious character, including discipline, responsibility, independence, honesty, cooperation, humility, courage, and patience. These results demonstrate that GASMI martial arts function not only as a physical training activity but also as an effective medium for the internalization of Islamic values. This study concludes that a religious-oriented martial arts training model significantly contributes to shaping students’ religious character and recommends further research to explore its applicability and effectiveness in broader educational and community contexts.
