Vocabulary mastery remains a crucial challenge for students in learning English, particularly in producing descriptive texts where precise word choice is required. This study addresses the importance of integrating digital learning tools to improve students vocabulary acquisition in a vocational school context. The research aimed to examine the effect of the Duolingo application on students vocabulary mastery in descriptive texts. A quantitative experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group was employed, involving first-grade students of SMK Maarif 1 Metro. The experimental group was taught using Duolingo, while the control group received conventional instruction. The results revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group compared to the control group, indicating that the use of Duolingo effectively enhances students vocabulary mastery. The findings suggest that features such as repetition, immediate feedback, and gamification contribute to better learning outcomes and increased student engagement. These results highlight the importance of integrating mobile-assisted language learning into classroom practices, as it provides an effective and engaging approach to improving vocabulary mastery in descriptive texts.
