Abstrak
This study aims to analyze the framing process of Metro TV Lampungs news coverage in shaping the positive image of Pondok Pesantren Nurul Qodiri as an Islamic educational institution, based on the evolving role of mass media that not only delivers information but also constructs social reality and influences public perception. The main problem of this study lies in the unclear framing patterns used in the news coverage and the extent to which such framing contributes to the formation of a positive image of the pesantren, in addition to the limited number of studies examining positive media framing of Islamic boarding schools, particularly in the context of local television media. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation of news broadcasts, interviews with pesantren administrators, students, and the community, as well as documentation and literature review. Data analysis is conducted using Robert N. Entmans framing model, which includes four stages: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgement, and treatment recommendation. The results indicate that Metro TV Lampung tends to frame Pondok Pesantren Nurul Qodiri positively by emphasizing religious activities, students achievements, and social contributions, supported by the use of educational narratives and representative visuals, thereby shaping public perception that the pesantren is a religious, high-quality, and competitive Islamic educational institution, and confirming that media framing plays a strategic role in constructing the positive image of Islamic educational institutions.
